When using SAS® Strategic Performance Management 2.3 or SAS® Strategic Performance Management 2.4, you may encounter the error
Error: Empty String
when you attempt to enable alert notifications.
If the following conditions are met when attempting to enable alert notifications, the error will be encountered:

2. In the Element selection, you select the option to override proerties set on an individual cell;
3. You select "No Change" in the threshold trigger.
To circumvent the problem, enable alert notifications directly from the element.
The steps you may take to enable the alert notifications directly in the element are as follows:
1. Open a project.
2. Select a project or scorecard table.
3. Select the element type you wish to edit.
4. Select the action menu drop-down which corresponds to the element you wish to edit.
5. Selec the period and metric attribute to which you want to apply the threshold.
6. Select "Global Threshold Options".
7. Select the option to enable global thresholds.
8. Select your interval type, condition and value.
9. Select the option to enable the alert notifications.
10. Add your list of subscribers.
11. Select the "OK" button if you do not have any other changes to make on this page or select the "Apply" button if you wish to make additional changes on this page.
This is a known problem and will be fixed in a future release.
